The world's space science community has decided to establish an international program for collaboration to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the International Geophysical Year (IGY) and 50 years of space exploration. The program is called the International Heliophysical Year (IHY) 2007 and it will involve all the UN member states. The research activities of IHY will be organized as Coordinated Investigation Programs (CIPs). Research groups from several countries have already submitted their CIP-proposals which are currently being compiled by the CIP Coordinators in order to establish efficient networking among proposals with similar interests.
The proposals have been recognized as important contributions to the Cosmic Ray and Heliosphere coordinated investigation program of the IHY. Several are submitted addressing similar topics. Therefore, we are organizing a meeting on the 2007-05-18 to 2007-05-19 at the physics center in Bad Honnef, Germany.
There is no central IHY funding for its scientific work so its success will rely on national agencies. Consequently, we warmly recommend the acceptance of the proposals submitted by each research group listed below for funding by your national agency. We are looking forward to fruitful cooperation in far-reaching scientific work.
The Program may change with the acceptance of proposers.
