A pair of space probes called STEREO will be launched in 2005, as part of NASA's Solar Terrestrial Probes Program (STP). STEREO is supposed to observe solar events with a stereometric view from two points in earth-like orbits around the sun.
The Extraterrestrial Physics department of the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, Germany, Institut für Experimentelle und Angewandte Physik contributes to several instruments on STEREO.
