Contents
The pitch angle scattering of 100 MeV protons by IMF fluctuations are
investigated using three methods:
the QLT approach, the field approach, and the particle approach.
By way of illustration, an analysis is made of the solar particle event on
April 11, 1978, observed by Helios 2 at a radial distance of
0.49 AU from the sun.
Results on the pitch angle scattering diffusion coefficients and the associated
mean free paths are compared.
