Video-STM Liquid Interfaces
Our group studies the atomic structure and dynamics of solid-solid, solid-liquid, and liquid-liquid interfaces as well as processes at these interfaces. Current focus are electrode processes in electrochemical energy conversion (fuel cells, electrolysis, production of synthethic fuels) and interface processes in the synthesis of nanomaterials and biomembranes. For this, we develop and employ modern microscopy and diffraction methods with high spatial and temporal resolution, specifically in situ scanning tunneling microscopy with video frequency image acquisition rates and surface sensitive x-ray scattering techniques using synchrotron radiation.
